Photos of the CPPC Years

Today is my last day working as curator of contemporary art at the Colección Patricia Phelps de Cisneros, a position I started in January 2011. During this period, I was based in New York City, where the collection’s main headquarters are sited and from where I organized several of its programs. But I actually spent a lot of time traveling in Latin America, where I conducted field research to make more informed acquisitions of contemporary art for the collection. I also visited Venezuela numerous times every year, particularly Caracas, where the collection has its original office and from where we organized, since 2012, an annual seminar of contemporary art. I’ve learned so much in these past seven years working at the collection. For this experience, I am thankful to Patty Cisneros and her family, as well as to the collection’s teams in New York and Caracas. No less, I am grateful to all the artists, curators, and people in the arts who welcomed me to their studios, homes, projects, and communities during this time, and to all those who participated, either as collaborators or audience, in our initiatives and programs. It is my hope to see many of you at the Witte de With Center for Contemporary Art in Rotterdam, which I begin directing in a couple of weeks!
